Killick Falls Lagoon

– November 15, 2010 –

About 10 years ago, Jenny walked into the shop that I was working at and asked me to tattoo a couple tribal dragons below her belly button. I tattooed the dragons and honestly never thought I’d see her again. She eventually came back and asked for me to tattoo a fairy riding a dragonfly on her upper back. It soon turned into a back piece and eventually made its way down her legs. 300 hours later this was what we came up with:

Although it took almost 10 years to complete, the majority of the work was done in the last four years. Jenny would come in every other week for about 3 hours at a time.

KILLICK FALLS LAGOON

“This is Killick Falls Lagoon. It’s located on the East side of Ferchett’s Island and empties into the Creotic Sea. The entire lagoon has roughly 6,007 square kilometers of surface area most of which is less then 4-5 meters deep.”

KILLICK FALLS

“Killick Falls empties fresh water from the Shinokey Mountains into the Lagoon causing the salinity of the water to be lower then that of the ocean. There are very few creatures who can swim between the two bodies of water freely, but the ones who can have no problem escaping close encounters with Zombie Jellyfish and the ever so feared Schitzo Serpents which can take up to a whole week to acclimate themselves from one body of water to the next.”

TURTLE FISH

“The Turtle Fish are a pretty laid back species of Turtle mostly located in the reefs on the western leg. They don’t do too much but if for some reason you need some quick transportation they’re always down to lend a hand. This particular Turtle fish’s name is Stockter, he made his way into the Lagoon roughly 212 years ago and has never left.”

PEEYERIN CASTLE (MAIN)

“Peeyerin castle was built approximately 50 years prior to the surfacing of Ferchett’s island. Many say that the island was created to imprison all who resided within it’s walls because of King Peeyerin’s failure to pay respect the Creotic Creator. Anger spread across the castle and many attempts were made on his life. Eventually success was met by the hands of his own wife, Queen Pasaj.

MERK THE MALICIOUS MOUSE (and NAUT THE NAUGHTY NAUTILUS)

“Merk and Naut are pretty new to the lagoon and have traveled all the way from the West Side of the island in hopes to find a fresh start. Unfortunately food for a young mouse is pretty scarce in these parts and Merk will soon find himself biting off more then he can chew.”

GUHNOCTOPUS

“Shortly after the death of King Peeyerin, the Guhnoctopus was one of the first creatures to find its way into the lagoon. When he arrived it gave hope to all those who were imprisoned within the Lagoon and many fled in search for the path to the Creotic Sea. Many years passed and Queen Pasaj’s health started to deminish. A few weeks before she died she instructed Guhnoctopus to protect her first and only son, Prince Peeyerin.”

PRINCE PEEYERIN

“Born and raised in Killick Falls Lagoon, Prince Peeyerin lost his mother at the age of 7. Since then he has grown into a fierce leader and helps protect the Lagoon from outsiders who’s main objective is to disturb the peace.”

SHYN AND HER SON GRINCE

“Shyn and her son Grince found their way into Killick Falls Lagoon 12 years ago while running from a zombie squirrel on the eastern entrance to the Lagoon. Unfortunately, her husband Herbie wasn’t so lucky and ended up getting bitten while tryin to protect them.”

LOOMIN THE CONSTANT THINKER FISH

“Loomin resides in the deepest part of the lagoon towards the lower chambers of Peeyerin’s Castle. Fish of his kind are very rare and his ability to constantly come up with great ideas is a valuable asset to any who surround themselves with his company.”

CRUSTY THE CURIOUS CRAB

“Crusty finds interest in watching others. He doesn’t talk much but when he does everyone listens.”

PEEYERIN’S CASTLE (THE OUTER SANCTUARY)

“The outer sanctuary of Peeyerin’s Castle wasn’t built until after the surfacing of the island. Because of the many death threats/attempts on the Kings life, he ordered it to be built as an additional line of safety.”

SLOT THE FLYING FISH

“Slot has a rare morphing ability. In a matter of minutes after being exposed to a new environment, Slot’s body starts making the adjustments necessary for his survival. Nobody actually knows how old he really is, however it is rumored that he is one of the only creatures to survive a Schitzo Serpent attack.”

RAB AND KOT

“As soon as the Rabbits built an alliance with the Octopus they ventured out to gather more territory. Half moved south to conquer the Skwirl and half ventured into the ocean to eliminate the Mice.”

SISK THE HARMLESS HAMMERHEAD

“Sisk killed a small sharp fish once and realized that it wasn’t for him. Since then he has managed to survive off of sea weed and coral. Most Hammerheads mock his existence and wanna have nothing to do with him while other species are afraid that he is like every other Shark. It wasn’t until he stumbled upon Killick Falls Lagoon that he actually felt at home.”

FICKLE THE FRIGHTENED SHARP FISH

“Those who barely know Fickle accuse him of being constantly paranoid, but some actually listen to him and have come to realize that his reasoning for paranoia is usually connected to some sort of rationale. This species of fish is known for it’s ability to avoid dangerous situations and they tend to live longer then most because of it.”

FREEAWK

“Freeawk has always guarded the outer sanctuary of Peeyerin’s Castle. He’s not much of a fighter, but he was born with the ability to see up to 20 miles away. He does so by sending out a high frequency noise and visually reproducing the landscape perfectly in his head when the noise returns. Most of his species can do the same, but it is vary rare to find one that can see so far.”

DART THE DUHFISH

“Dart comes from a rather simple minded species called the Duhfish. They’re not known for anything spectacular, but if your lonely and you want some thoughtless company then they’re good to have around.”

SCRITCH

“Scritch has gathered a great deal of respect amongst the Skwirl community for retrieving more Acorn Pearls then any other squirrel in history. His courage and agility have allowed him to enter the waters of the Eastern Sea and maneuver with ease. Scritch has obtained enough Acorn Pearls to provide a comfortable living for him and his family but financial stability is no longer the driving force. Feeding his ego is the ultimate goal.”

THE INFAMOUS ACORN PEARL

“Although Acorn Pearls can be found pretty much anywhere throughout the Creotic Sea the majority of them reside on the Eastern side of Ferchett’s island. This particular region is known to inhabit some of the ocean’s most feared creatures so only the most courageous and physically adequate squirrels venture out for the challenge.”
